I was Googling manual tranny shifting problems and came across an article on overfilling manual transmissions that have shiftability issues. Since most manual trannies use splash lubrication, this particular article said he`d overfilled his car`s manual tranny through the breather hole and it made it shift day and night better, especially once it was hot. Then I found a GM tsb saying to UNDER fill the manual tranny by a quart to fix gear crunch and notchy shifting. My car`s tranny only crunches 1>2 once it`s hot,but when it`s cold it shift to 2nd butter smooth. Would a slight overfill make shiting smoother when the tranny is good and hot? Since our trannies aren`t pressurized, would the overfill be a good thing,lubrication-wise,or would it cause an adverse reaction? I`d been thinking on this because once my Amsoil MTG comes in (I ordered 4 quarts) I`ll be changing the fluid.
